The W3C Southern African Office presented at the recently held eGovernment Conference at the Michaelangelo on 26 and 27 May 2010. This was a small conference attended by around 15 participants from industry and government. The presentations was given around the impact eGovernment can have on the citizens of a country and the role that Web 2.0 can play in government.

The staff of the Southern Africa Office of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) are in the process of developing an effective strategy to establish the Southern African office, promote W3C guidelines and recommendations, and to facilitate the participation of the Southern African region in the W3C working groups.

The Southern Africa Office of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) was launched at a function held at Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Convention Centre in Pretoria on 14 May 2007. The day was divided into three sessions, with the opening ceremony taking place in the morning followed by two workshop sessions in the afternoon.
